| How do I update the firmware? |
| On
your DVR, use the following steps to update the firmware. This will require
a CD or USB thumb drive: • Download the firmware update from the IDView website and copy it to a CD or to your USB thumb drive • Put the CD or USB thumb drive in the appropriate location (USB port is on the front of the DVR (lower right side)) • Press #5 (System Information) • Press #1 (Revision) • Press #7 (Upgrade), use the right arrow key to change to Yes, then press Enter • You will see a message indicating that the DVR is searching devices, select the device your upgrade is on, press Enter • After completing be sure to remove the external device before the DVR has shutdown • To make sure all changes are well-saved, you should shutdown and reboot the DVR properly after exiting the Setup menu |
| What is the USB slot and how do I use it with the DVR? |
| The USB Slot on the front allows for quick downloads of video to a portable USB device. This data can then be imported into any PC for viewing and archiving. These USB drives come in sizes from 32mb to 1.2 GIG. |
| What is the storage capability of the DVR? |
| The DVR can hold a total of 800 Gigabytes of storage spread over 1 internal hard drive, 1 removable hard drive. The storage capacity will vary based on the frame rate setting, hard drive size, and recording quality. By using external Firewire and USB devices the DVR can support up to TWO TERABYTES of storage. | Can the DVR be programmed for motion detection? |
| The system supports motion detection separately for each channel. You need to define the area by choosing which segments of the grid to include. This can be done remotely using a mouse faster than by using the buttons on the front of the unit. You can sample the current motion to determine the sensitivity threshold and thus prevent many false alarms. |
| How do I turn off the DVR? |
| Press the ESC + #4 keys simultaneously to shutdown. Please wait until the unit is shutdown completely before removing the power. |
| How do I turn on the DVR? |
| Press the ESC + #1 keys simultaneously for 3 seconds, then release. The front panel buttons will light up in sequence until the unit is completely restarted. This may take a couple of minutes. |
| Can I record audio? |
| Yes, you can record a single channel of audio. Synchronized audio can be recorded at the rate of 10, 6, 2.7, 1.2, 0.61, or 0.35 Frames per second. |
| Can I output the video to a VCR while playing back? |
| Yes, you can. Connect the TO MONITOR connection of the DVR to the INPUT of the VCR with a coax cable. Connect the OUTPUT of the VCR to the TV input with another coax cable. Ensure your TV is on TV/Video, then playback like you normally would do on the DVR and press Record on the VCR to copy to a video tape. |
| Can I view the live and recorded video remotely? |
| The DC-9/1600TX series DVR can be connected to a LAN/WAN through the Ethernet port to allow remote viewing of live and recorded video via TCP/IP. |
